Whenever we hear the words 'Glencoe' and 'wedding' used in the same sentence, we do a little dance! We're so glad of the excuse to head off into some of Scotland's most spectacular landscapes. So when Jo and Nick asked us to photograph their wedding, we were delighted. What we didn't know then was that Jo and Nick were going to put so much effort into the preparations for the day, with a unique style and gorgeous details, this was a bit of a photographer's fairy land. Rather than take many portraits on the day of the wedding, the following day we met up with Jo and Nick to head off to some of their favourite spots in the hills. The weather that day was a complete contrast to the moody Scottish look of the day before, giving us a great range of light, and showing us the glorious spring sunshine that Glencoe is capable of when it's in the right mood! Wedding location: Glencoe House

Wedding location planning: Anne Goh, Gleoncoe House

Joanne's dress: Bride's Delight, Aberdeen (design by Maggie Sottero)

Joanne's shoes: Rachel Simpson

Nick's blue suit: made to measure by Steven Purvis (Glasgow)

Nick's shoes: Church's

Hair & make-up: Kay & Layla at Miss Dixiebelle, Edinburgh

Evening Band: Stax of Motown

Florist: The Flowerbox, Grantown-on-Spey

Caterer: Brian & Fiona Gunn, Bayleaf Catering, Onich

Wine selection: Oddbins, Hynland Glasgow; Beer selection: River Leven Ales, Kinlochleven

Jen and Bob's wedding at Kinkell Byre and Dunino Church, St Andrews

Jen and Bob were already familiar with how we worked when their wedding day came - we had been out and about Glasgow University for an engagement shoot. We find that having done this helps make the portrait on the day a much more relaxed affair, and we can all get on with enjoying being in all that amazing scenery and having a fun time. And on Jen and Bob's wedding day, there was amazing scenery in abundance - while the guests were heading from the church over to Kinkell Byre, we took the opportunity to sneak off with the happy couple to one of the beautiful beaches that St Andrews is famous for. This wedding was a bit of a photographer's dream - not only was there a handsome and happy couple, but with beautiful detailing and a gorgeous dress.

Laura and Stewart at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh

We have photographed Laura and Stewart already, a year before their wedding (have a look at their engagement portraits here: http://blog.croandkowlove.com/laura-and-stewarts-engagement-shoot/ ) so it was a pleasure to meet them again this time celebrating at Balmoral Hotel in central Edinburgh. Before the day started, we went up Carlton Hill to take some portraits and have a calm moment with these two wonderful people so much in love!

Joanna and Edward's wedding at Broxmouth Park

Earlier this year we took the pictures for Jo and Ed's wedding at Broxmouth Park near Dunbar. The day had such a happy atmosphere, but our favourite bit was wandering off into the woods filled with wild garlic and taking a walk down to the small loch for a quiet and relaxed time. The delicate flowers and silence of the forest is something we won't forget soon!

Janine and Graham at Mount Stuart, on the Isle of Bute

One of the highlights of our summer was a visit to the Isle of Bute to photograph Janine and Graham's gorgeous day at the amazing Mount Stuart.  Janine and Graham couldn't have chosen their date better - the days running up had been damp, but the day of the wedding was glorious! Mount Stuart is just an amazing venue, with beautiful artwork and detailing and a unique location. This really was a wonderful day to remember!

Catherine and James at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh

CatherineJames-1.jpg

The Scottish summer has been really spoiling us this year, and on a sunny day there can hardly be a better place in Edinburgh than The Royal Botanic Gardens. With the ceremony under a clear blue sky and wind in the sequoias, after friends and family congratulated the couple, the white rhododendrons in full bloom were a perfect backdrop for Catherine and James' portraits. The delicate mix of white and red set off Catherine's gorgeous dress with all its intricate detail beautifully:

Kelly and Duncan elopement to Edinburgh Castle, St Margaret's Chapel - and St Andrews

Kelly and Duncan came over from Canada to get married in Scotland - and in Scotland there can be no more iconic location than Edinburgh Castle. Within the castle is Edinburgh's oldest building, St Margaret's Chapel - and that is where their ceremony took place. At the ceremony there was just Kelly's mother, and the two of us to record the day - it was such a moving experience to be a part of such an intimate, relaxed and happy day! We took pictures not just in one castle, but two! We met up before in St Andrew's to take a few pictures in St Andrew's Castle before heading down the coast to the ceremony:
