Edinburgh City Chambers

This is the main location in Edinburgh for civil ceremonies - bigger and smaller ones. In Scotland you can get married literally anywhere but the legal paperwork (like your birth certificates and application form but also the Marriage Schedule that needs to be picked up in person from the office before the wedding day) needs to be completed at least 29 days in advance and you have to have two legal witnesses. I have been to this office myself to pick up my own Marriage Schedule but also acted as one of the witnesses (I’m definitely at least 16 years old haha) while photographing the wedding! It is a favourite spot for my destination wedding couples and elopements as it offers a legal service and is slap bang in the Edinburgh Old Town with access to all the beautiful, historical spots of the city shortly after your civil ceremony.
