Gilmerton House, East Lothian

When I filmed at Gilmerton House I had the uncanny feeling I was on a set for a film inspired by Jane Austen’s novel. I haven’t (yet!) photographed there, but would love to, but Simon & I did film a gorgeous wedding there and would love to go back. It’s very close by where Simon grew up and he didn’t know about it until recently.

It is a historic 18th century Georgian mansion located in East Lothian with the exquisite interiors of the main house and acres of grounds. The side garden is ideal for drinks reception and family photos and as the light shift to the front lawn this spacious front is perfect for some marquee or tipis set up for the party. The state has been home to the same family for four centuries and is a sumptuous country retreat that somehow manages to stay warm and welcoming.
