Glencorse House, near Penicuik

This almost 400 years old estate is nested at the Pentland Hills just 20 minutes outside Edinburgh and is set in secluded parkland with a historic 17th century church. Robert Louis Stevenson used to attend mass there but more recently the wee kirk was used for filming Outlander tv series. Unfortunately I don’t own a tv so I have not seen a single episode but after documenting many wedding, vow renewals and handfasting celebrations in this location I can easily imagine even the fictional character tying the knot there. A small loch accessible in a golf cart is also a great option for photographs, before you are driven back up the hill to celebrate some more in a dedicated marquee set just next to the main house.
