Hoxton Hotel, Edinburgh

This West End part of Edinburgh’s New Town hotel is a perfect choice of a wedding location for my design-savvy couples. There are adjoining spaces and the rooms can be hired separately or together. It is worth bearing in mind that there isn’t any rooftop space for outdoor photographs and the only option in the nearby area is the street the hotel is situated on with private gardens at the end. The decor is quirky and the rooms are perfect for these calm, bridal preparations photos that I like taking a lot, before the wedding day events kick in. If you are after capturing some of the hotel urban design aesthetics in your wedding photos it might be an idea to book the hotel’s cinema (yes, they do have one!) for an hour in the afternoon to have your own, private space for the photographs. The reception room with the glass ceiling has a flattering daylight for your speeches and in the evening the hotel offers a whisky nightcap. I have photographed enough whisky campaigns to never have to sniff one again but I can tell you that the hotel’s bar matcha and burgers are of the highest standards.
