The Signet Library, Edinburgh

As I am married to an ex-lawyer this wedding venue smack bang in the heart of the Edinburgh Old Town is one of my favourites in the capital. It is spacious, the light is great and I have impression that my couples choosing to celebrate there intuitively know how to have the best party. There are two grand spaces - the Lower Library is perfect for the ceremony (again, I love it as a photographer that I can access the gallery above for that unique point of view) and the Upper Library is perfect of any evening affair, especially when you’re planning to incorporate a ceilidh. You can easily spend the whole day inside as the interior is so beautiful and opulent but you might also sneak out outside, especially in the evening when the crowds on Royal Mile leave you with some more space for uninterrupted romantic portraits. There is a sweet spot when the evening light just streams down the Royal Mile so I would recommend nipping out even for 10 minutes to have some photos in those iconic cobbled streets.
